Draft
A dark, monospaced theme for independent blogs and newsletters.
A dark, monospaced theme that makes every word look deliberate.
Draft is made for writers who publish essays, reported pieces and short notes, and who want their site to look as considered as their writing. It pairs two monospaced typefaces, IBM Plex Mono and Space Mono, with a near-black canvas and generous whitespace, so the words and the images do the work.
The homepage opens on a full-screen slider of your featured posts, each with its tag, date, excerpt and author. Below it, the latest posts follow in a grid of square cards, and readers load more without leaving the page.
Inside each post, a sticky “On this page” list is built from your headings and follows the reader down the page. Feature images, captions, tags, comments and related posts all have a clear place.
Design and layout
A floating glass header holds your subscribe button, logo, search and menu, and stays out of the way while people read. The menu slides in from the side with large links, a Dark/Light switch and your secondary links. Draft opens in dark mode for first-time visitors and remembers each reader’s choice. Every layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktops.
Built on native Ghost features
Draft works with Ghost 6.x and newer and styles every editor card. Native search and comments are built in. Your accent colour comes from Ghost Admin, with a separate shade for dark mode, and you can upload a second logo for dark backgrounds. Author pages show each writer’s photo, bio, location, website and social links, and posts can have several authors. Primary and secondary navigation are both supported, and every label can be translated.
Members and subscriptions
Draft supports Ghost memberships from the first day. Visitors subscribe and sign in through Portal, and members reach their account from the header. You can publish free, members-only or paid posts. Gated posts carry a small badge on their card, and a clear paywall box invites readers to subscribe or upgrade.
Landing pages and extras
Hide the title on any page and it becomes a landing page: the header turns into a full-width bar, and full-width cards sit flush against the header and footer. Sections fade in gently as readers scroll, images load as they’re reached, and the footer carries a newsletter form, your social links and a copyright line that accepts custom HTML. Detailed documentation walks you through installation, setup and customisation.
